Parent Governor Vacancy

 

We have a vacancy for a parent governor on the Governing Body of the school and welcome nominations for the post. Please call in to the school office for a nomination form, or one can be downloaded below.

Please be aware of the strict timings detailed on the form; these must be adhered to for the nomination to be considered.

 

The nomination form MUST be returned no later than 3.00pm on Tuesday 25th February 2020.

 

The Role of a Parent Governor

 

A governing body “governs” the school in partnership with the Headteacher, ensuring that all children receive an education that helps them to achieve their full potential. Governors work with the headteacher and school staff to improve and develop our school. Parent governors do not represent the voice of parents, their role is to work as part of the governing body to give strategic direction and focus through agreeing plans and aims, setting budgets, deciding priorities, appointing staff, supporting the work of the school and challenging it to improve. A governor is often referred to as a critical friend.

 

No special skills are required to be a parent governor. The only essentials are a keen interest in education and commitment to our school and the community it serves, and that you can commit time to the Governing Body. A full induction and training will be given to the successful candidate.

 

Governors serve a four year term of office and are expected to attend a minimum of one committee meeting and one Full Governing Body meeting each term and will need to be willing to undertake training and development as needed.

 

We would be particularly keen to receive nominations from parents with knowledge of finance, or a willingness to learn about finance.
