Welcome to our year 5 web page. 

We have lots of exciting topics over the year.Some of the exciting topics we will be covering this year are North America, forces, materials, living things and their habitats, the ancient Maya civilisation, space and volcanoes.

As part of these topics we will be going on a few educational visits including to Chester Cathedral to do Pilgrim Day and to the Xplore Science and Discovery Centre in Wrexham.

Our PE lessons are on different days. 5P on Monday and 5PWK on Wednesday. The children will need to come into school in their PE kit (Black shorts and a white plain t shirt). For the first half term this will be netball, we are will be outside so black or blue tracksuit trousers or leggings may be warmer. School jumpers may be worn for warmth.

Please put names in all clothing worn in school especially jumpers and coats and wellies.

Please always bring a water bottle into school everyday as there are no working water fountains in school.

Homework when set, will always due in on a Monday.

Maths homework may sometimes be set on the computer - My maths. The children will be given a log in and there will be links to lessons and tasks and sometimes other useful websites e.g. Prodigy. (Log ins will be written or stuck into reading record books). Sometimes they will bring home a worksheet to complete.

In year five we recommend reading daily or at least 4 times a week out loud to an adult discussing the unknown vocabulary or helping with tricky words.

Spelling or grammar homework will be sent half termly
