Doing everything in love, go and do likewise!

Min-Y-Don update - Wednesday morning

We had a really busy day on Tuesday, packed with activities, meaning they all slept really well last night. The morning saw us doing various sorts of climbing - the high ropes are really high but some of the group are born climbers and shot up to the top. The low ropes need great teamwork and skill, shown by Adrian, Archie, Cassie and Kai, with the Wipeout Challenge showing that Lila has great balance! Mrs Price was confident of winning the Archery only to be surprised by Nicky and Oscar who showed great skill and Finlay who came out on top - both Nicky and Natalia scored a bullseye along the way.

We had a quick lunch (that we had made earlier!) and the rain began to come down in the afternoon, but the Min Y Don waterproofs cover you up like a tent so that wasn't a problem. The tide was back in so the Canoeing group set off and had a great time on the estuary, while another group set off on the bikes down the old railway track. The rock climbing was very challenging and the wet rocks made it tough going, but their attitude was excellent and the group showed real determination to do well. A particular well done goes to Freya and Ella who had obviously done it before and chose the hardest route but also to Rachel J and others who had never done it before. Crate climbing needs a steady hand a great balance, with Nathan coming out with the highest stack of 27 crates. Freya managed to get her foot stuck in a crate as her stack collapsed so she was left dangling with a crate for a shoe! This was followed by some orienteering and problem solving activities in groups (outdoors of course!).

After tea we were out again for the night games, racing around in the dark with our torches having a great time - we played Haggis last night which is really good fun!

There is always plenty of food and tea on Monday was beef stew and Yorkshire pudding, while we had sweet and sour chicken with rice yesterday. The puddings have been very popular - pancake with ice cream and then jam sponge with custard.

They have all slipped into the routines here very well and have enjoyed being busy. The children have been great with each other and it's lovely to see them working with new groups, trying new things and being encouraging and supportive. We are so busy there is always something great to look forward to. The weather is dry this morning and everyone had a really good sleep and a hearty breakfast - we look ready for the day ahead!
