Year 4 2017 - 2018

Mrs Lyons

Mrs Ellis-Rushton

Mrs Harrop

Welcome to Year 4!

We hope you've had a wonderful summer holiday. Last term we asked you what you wanted to learn about. We have looked at all your answers and chosen to start our year with the topic of 'Illusions'. We have lots of ideas, but you will be choosing where you take your learning, so get ready to give us your ideas.

Firstly though, we will be learning all about Growth Mindsets and how we can improve our learning. We will be looking at things such as: resilience, persistence, learning from mistakes, challenging stereotypes and how the brain works.

Children are expected to read regularly at home (at least 4 times a week), learn weekly spellings (hand in on Friday) and complete maths homework (hand in on Monday).

This is a good website to find recommended reading books for Year 4: Reading Books.  Also see the file below.

Each child has a user name and password to access the maths homework. Please contact us if they have forgotten it. There are some great educational apps available, such as: Alan Peat spellling games - see details here http://www.alanpeat.com/apps.html

If your child would like to complete extra activities at home, they can go on the following websites:
